Parenting in the Pew update: quiet bags

I'm trying out something new on the blog today: a video!  Here's what I put in our church "quiet bags" for Arie- at age three- to use during the sermon:

Bag: Timeless Memory Pouch by Thirty-One.
Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones
Re-useable stickers and scenes by Melissa and Doug

  1. My son is almost 2 and I've been starting to think about the idea of a 'quiet bag' so he can stay in church with us. Thank you so much for all of these ideas!! :) This was fabulous!

I'm sorry but I dont like this video blog. I often read at work or on the subway and don't want to disturb others with the noise. Also, I just love actually reading someone's writing.

    1. HA! Does it still come out? My Canadian friends all think I speak like an American and my American friends still think I sound Canadian. I can't win!

  4. Having E in out church service is not possible with our service setup, ministry focus (college students), and my son's need to move at all waking times. But there are so many good ideas in here for other times when he needs to be still (for five minutes, just please sit for five minutes!).
I also loved your accent, but I'm from Texas, so I'm sure you'd think mine was funny too. :)

  5. Thank you for doing this! I need to put one together for Tripp. We love having him with us, but until Abbott came he was loving the nursery, now he wants to be with us, and I need a way for him to be a little less of a distraction to those around us. Thanks for the tips !

  6. I don't typically watch blog videos either. Like someone mentioned above, I prefer to read someone's writing, and I am often perusing blogs while in a quiet space, or multi-tasking. That said, I am SO glad I watched your video! I have been reading your blog for about 6 months (I went back to the VERY beginning and read all the way through when I found it!), and I imagined your voice to be totally different, lol! Not that it doesn't sound beautiful, it does, but it is quite a bit deeper than I imagined. More like my own voice I think. These bags were wonderful, and Arie is lucky to have such a thoughtful and organized mama!
