IUI #2 scheduled (and Halloween!)

I had another ultrasound this morning and scheduled our next IUI for Monday morning!

In unrelated news, yesterday was Halloween! I think facebook almost melted after millions of parents uploaded pictures of their kids in adorable costumes. Here's my little elephant:

It rained here all day and all evening long, so we made the rounds at our local mall before the outside hours began just in case it was too yucky to get out.

That elephant butt!
Thankfully, the rain slowed to a constant drizzle and we were able to join two family friends for a trip around their neighborhood.

As you can probably imagine, Arie was blissed out the entire time. Running from house to house, squealing with delight, giggling so hard I'm surprised he didn't fall over! When we passed houses with their lights off he panicked and begged, "More trick or treat???" Yes- there's always more.
Sprinting elephant!
In the end we got him off the streets with the lure of actually eating the candy he collected. "I EAT it?? YEEEEEAAAAA!!"

At home we let him pick out ten treats and traded the rest for a new Thomas and Friends train for his tracks. I was kind of worried about how this trade would go off because he seemed rather attached to his stash, but it was successful! Phew.

Halloween was our last "first" with Arie. Technically he has not experienced American Thanksgiving yet either, but we did have a feast for Canadian Thanksgiving a few weeks ago, so it doesn't seem as "milestoneish." November 19 marks our one year "gotcha" day and then we usher in a year of "seconds." I have loved going through all these firsts with my son. Life with a toddler is more tiring and less "free" than life without kids, but it is also way more magic. Halloween was the perfect last "first" for our family.

And, as we look forward to our next IUI, in more ways than one I say: Bring on the seconds!

    1. Thanks Laura! I got the idea from this blog: mamanatural.com (her post called "switch witch) - worth checking out! We don't include the "witch" part though. :-)

  2. Thats one supercute elephant!! If you dont want to eat all tht candy yourself, I heard of someone pulverizing the chocolate based stuff in the food processor, then keeping it in the freezer for baking it into cookies and things later! It may be fun to bake up some treats with Arie during your next waiting period :)

    1. Oh man that's either the best idea or the worst idea! Best idea... means we won't eat them right away. Worst idea... means we will eat them with additional cookie calories. Ha! Still, sounds delicious!

  4. You had a lovely Halloween!

We are doing trade offs as a trip to the mall for a new book / new build a bear today. I'm so over taking her to build a bear, it's getting crowded in her room. I need a stuff animal corral.
